Durant ce voyage en Thaïlande : circuit dans l’ancien royaume du Siam, direction le nord du Pays du Sourire, entre montagnes, rizières, petits villages, cascades et forêts. Montagnes, rizières, forêts : le nord de la Thaïlande décline toutes les nuances de vert.

Le nord de la Thaïlande  compte de nombreux temples, où se mêlent le vert tendre des rizières, une invitation au calme et à la beauté des décors tropicaux. Ici nous sommes loin de Phuket, au cœur d’une Thaïlande hors des sentiers battus, plus verte… La nature occupe une place importante au nord, mais nous sommes aussi gâtés côté culture.

Departure to visit the Grand Palace. As the residence of Thai kings, the royal palace has been the center
of every capital city in the country’s history. The Grand Palace is surrounded by outer walls which cover
almost two square kilometres. Its original form is a conscious evocation of the temple
of Ayutthaya and it is divided into several parts: the outer parts are reserved for
government offices, the central portion houses the king’s private quarters as well as the audience halls, the
the inner part is reserved for female members of the royal family and their
stewards. Visit the Audience Hall and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) with its
jade Buddha image.

Afternoon: Departure for a boat trip through the klongs of Thon Buri, the former capital
with a lake character. You thus discover the traditional life at the edge of the canals, then of the temple Wat
Arun, the Temple of Dawn.

07:00 Early in the morning, departure for the floating market (approx. 80Km)
On arrival, transfer to the pier located nearby not far from the market and departure by long boat queue along the river through lush vegetation to the Damnoen saduak market.

Departure for the historic site of Ayuthaya. On arrival, visit its main temples by bike: Wat Phra Mahathat: 1st temple, with a Buddha’s head stuck in the roots of a tree. Unique in Thailand. Wat Phra Nan Choeng, located on the southern edge of the Ayutthaya River. A massive image of a golden Buddha seems to watch people as they enter. The image was created in 1324, twenty six

Morning: visit Doi Maesalong. Mae Salong is nicknamed the “little Switzerland”… The atmosphere there remains clearly unique, with its Chinese-style houses and the signs in Chinese making you forget that you are still in Thailand… Road to the Golden Triangle, change vehicle by taking E Tan (rice transport) to arrive at the restaurant La Vallée, located in the heart of the Triangle in the Akha village.

After lunch, embark on a canoe for a small cruise on the Mekong. Before returning to your hotel, stop at the Choui Fong tea plantations This is the most large tea plantation in the province of Chiang Rai. This plantation is located 1,200 meters above sea level and produces, among other things, green tea, black tea, and Oolong tea. You can admire the tea plantations covering 96 hectares. After breakfast, drive to Chiangmai, and before leaving the city of Chiangrai, stop at the white temple or Wat Rong Khun This temple, a masterpiece of Thai architecture, was founded in 2000
by famous Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, and is made of white concrete and several thousand small mirrors. Before arriving at the city of Chiangmai, stop for your lunch in an organic restaurant. You have lunch in a green, very quiet setting, either in the air-conditioned room of the superb Lanna teak house or outside in the shade and under the coolness of the trees.

After lunch, arrival in Chiangmai, departure for an atypical visit by TUK TUK which will allow you
discover the history of the Lanna Kingdom, the architectural style, the local products and the animation of the markets. You will walk along the walls of the old city including “Jaeng Sri Bhume”; contrast between the remains of the old and the modern city.

You will start your walk at the Wat Si Suphan temple, known as the silver temple located in a small street which has been welcoming all the artisans of the region specializing in silver work for more than 5 centuries . This temple is known for its ordination hall made entirely of silver, inside and
out.

You can also admire on site the work of several monks and craftsmen busy working with silver… You will then discover the Wat Lok Moli temple, a perfect example of Lanna architecture; specificity of this art of the ancient Northern Kingdom. You will stop at Warorot Market, the largest and busiest in Chiang Mai. Hundreds of shops sell everything and at very good prices. Free evening.

Doi Inthanon National Park is one of the best preserved ecosystems in Thailand. Covering an area of ​​482km², there is the highest peak in Thailand which culminates at 2565m, it is nicknamed the “roof of Thailand”. Its ancient name was “Doi Luang” the royal mountain. You will start with a stop at the magnificent Wachirathan “diamond stream” waterfall. The vehicle will drop you very close to the summit but it is on foot that you will reach the highest point of Doi Inthanon. Then you will visit the 2 Royal pagodas:

The Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon meaning “by the force of the earth and the air”. It was built in 1987 to honor the 60th birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (RAMA IX). The Phra Mahathat Naphaphonphumisiri meaning “to be the force of the air and the grace of the earth” was built in 1992 to honor the 60th birthday of Queen Sirikit.

The flower garden that surrounds the 2 pagodas, in large multicolored terraces is a pure marvel. Following in a Hmong market: this tribe has a long history in Thailand where they arrived fleeing China to work in the opium fields at the time.

Today this tribe is dedicated to the cultivation of fruits and vegetables and sells these products on the market. After the meal, hike of 2h30 in the marked path in the tropical forest. It’s a circuit grandiose in a lush jungle where you will cross rivers, rice fields, flower farms (Gerberas, Chrysanthemums, etc.) and magnificent waterfalls, including the most famous in the region, Pha Dok Siew where the water flows along the a 280m cliff to create different pools.

The end of the hike will bring you to a village of the Karen Blanc tribe, this is the largest tribe
in northern Thailand. White Karens are the main subgroups of the Karen tribe. They are renowned for their great attachment to the preservation of the environment, perfectly illustrated by the many rituals aimed at living harmoniously “with the god of earth and water”.

Arrival at Baan Mae Klang Luang located in the middle of the rice fields (rice terraces depending on the season) return to Chiang Mai at the end of the afternoon. Free evening.

Depart from your hotel for an unforgettable half-day at Kanta Elephant Sanctuary, a real sanctuary for elephants.

Located in the heart of the Mae Taeng Valley, Kanta Elephant Sanctuary is one of the few places in Thailand where pachyderms no longer work for humans. You will spend this magnificent
morning in the company of elephants who know neither chains, nor bullying, nor beatings.

You will walk with the elephants in their natural environment, watch them cool off in the ponds, and learn a lot about their behavior.

Return to Chiangmai

4:00 p.m.: You will then leave for the mountain of Doi Suthep to attend the prayer of the monks, which takes place every evening at 6:00 p.m. (5:30 p.m. for holy days).

This sacred and very moving moment will remain a unique memory of your stay in Thailand. You can even be blessed by a bonze, who will give you a small bracelet to bring you luck. Take the opportunity to visit this famous temple, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, a Chiang Mai landmark where sacred Buddha relics are held in a sacred place in the golden stupa. The panoramic view of Chiang Mai and all the surrounding landscape is very beautiful. Return to the hotel. Free evening

We invite you to discover the Thai way of life: their house, their kitchen, their vegetable garden. With your hosts and with them, you will participate in the preparation of your meal.

Upon arrival, you will meet Mae Janfong, the owner who will introduce you to his house, a
traditional Thai teak building. You will visit the places and you will be explained the customs of
Thai families: The Buddha statue, the house of spirits… and their influences on daily life.
You will then pick aromatic herbs in the huge vegetable garden of more than 9500m²: spices, peppers, basil, galangal…

You prepare the meal with the advice of the hosts (4 Thai dishes + a Thai dessert + seasonal fruits

Then place the tasting 2:45 p.m.: Transfer after lunch to Chiangmai airport, flight to Bangkok FD Air Asia 4:45 p.m.

6:15 p.m. On arrival at Don Muang airport at 6:15 p.m. take the right side: Transfer to your hotel in Bangkok OR departure for your relax extension in southern Thailand in Hua Hin or another beach.
