THE ISLAND OF MADEIRA: Geography and particularities.

Due to its excellent geographical location and the high mountains, Madeira has breathtaking landscapes. The island has a surprisingly mild climate , with moderate humidity and pleasant average temperatures of 25ºC in summer and 18ºC in winter .

The island is also very famous for its natural beauty, especially the Laurissilva Forest, which is an ancient forest that has been classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Madeira is also well known as a place where you can practice outdoor sports and leisure activities all year round.

Madeira being an island of Portugal, it is quite natural to find in the local specialties many dishes based on  fish  and  seafood . Madeira’s climate is conducive to the cultivation of  exotic fruits , such as pineapple, custard apple or cherimoya , banana,  chayote , yam , mango, papaya,  sweet potato , passion fruit ( maracuja) among others. The dishes are often accompanied by products from the island, this mixture is typical of Madeiran gastronomy.
